In his new role, Smoak will oversee the management of Comporium’s Operations workgroup throughout the enterprise. This includes business development, sales, customer care, and marketing. He will also ensure that Comporium has the proper resources, processes, and reporting methods in place to effectively meet the company’s customer service, revenue, and other operating goals in an increasingly competitive market.

Maybe just as important, he embodies the heart of servant leadership that sets Comporium apart from its competitors.”

Prior to being promoted, Smoak served as Vice President of Business Development for Comporium, where he made recommendations for strategic investments and played a key role in the development of strategic plans. His team helped establish pricing for complex business services and Smoak has proven to be a key player in Comporium’s ability to expand its footprint through grants and other initiatives.

Smoak began working at Comporium in 2001 as a temporary employee and has nearly 30 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. He earned a master’s degree in economics from University of Oklahoma and an MBA with a dual concentration in finance and strategic leadership from Winthrop University.

Embracing Comporium’s core value of giving back to the communities that it serves; Smoak is an active member of the community and also serves on the board of Family Trust FCU. He and his wife, Laura, are long-time residents of Rock Hill.
