AMP Robotics Corp. (“AMP”), a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered diversion technologies for the waste and recycling industry, today announced that David Steiner has been elected to serve on its board of directors.
Steiner is the former chief executive officer of WM (NYSE: WM), a role he held from 2004 until 2016. Steiner joined WM in 2000 and swiftly ascended the ranks to become general counsel and then chief financial officer before becoming CEO in 2004. As CEO, Steiner is credited with delivering strong financial results and repositioning the $85 billion public company as a leader in the recycling sector.
“David brings a wealth of leadership experience and an impressive record of execution at the largest environmental solutions provider in North America, and we’re pleased to welcome him to AMP’s board of directors,” said Tim Stuart, CEO of AMP. “David’s perspective will amplify our efforts to embed our solutions into the waste industry and build on the company’s momentum following a new round of funding and a significant deal with Waste Connections.”
Steiner added, “AMP’s solutions are driving strategic change in waste and recycling, and I'm eager for the opportunity to join Tim and team and contribute to the expansion of technology that's enhancing the economics of transfer stations, preserving airspace in areas where landfill expansion is limited, and lowering the cost of recycling, all enabling a new model for the processing of municipal solid waste.”
Earlier in his career, Steiner was a partner at the law firm of Phelps Dunbar LLP. He is currently the lead independent director of FedEx (NYSE: FDX), where he also chairs the board’s nominating and governance committee, and a director of Vulcan Materials Company (NYSE: VMC). He was previously a director of TE Connectivity Ltd. (NYSE: TEL) and WM, and currently serves on several nonprofit and educational boards, including the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University. Steiner received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University and earned his juris doctor from the UCLA School of Law.
