Prodoscore, a leading provider of employee productivity and data intelligence software, today released its 2024 Legal Industry Productivity Report. The report highlights key productivity trends from Jan. 1 through Sept. 13, 2024, among 13 U.S. legal organizations using Prodoscore’s AI-powered data intelligence platform.

The companies included in the report range in size from 10 to 1,000 employees, comprising nearly 2,000 employees across 48 different roles. Productivity was measured based on usage of various cloud tools (i.e., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Litify), which showed that employees in the “above average” productivity group spent approximately five hours and 45 minutes per day using these tools, while employees in the “below average” group spent less than one hour and 30 minutes using the tools.

Key findings from the data include:

  • There is no difference in productivity among employees working remotely and in the office. Productivity remains consistent no matter where legal employees are working from, countering concerns about their ability to work effectively outside of the office.
  • There is a positive correlation between time spent in meetings and productivity. Employees in the “above average” productivity group spent 20 to 50 percent more time in meetings compared to employees in the “below average” group.
  • Productivity surges in the afternoon. Across the board, employees exhibited higher levels of concentration and productivity during the afternoon hours, compared to the morning.
  • AI helps to increase employee productivity. Firms saw a 17 percent increase in productivity within the first four months of implementing Prodoscore, with productivity levels maintaining a 7 percent increase after that.

“When you have a distributed workforce in the legal industry, it’s important to make sure that all employees are set up for success,” said Adam Friedman, Managing Partner at Friedman Vartolo, whose company uses Prodoscore. “AI and data help us to identify top-performing employees, as well as employees who may need additional support to realize their full potential. We also find coaching opportunities, see who might be overworked and burning out before it’s too late, eliminate the need to micromanage and more. In an industry known for long hours and high standards, we are empowered to make smart and informed business decisions based on actionable data, rather than gut instincts, which often result in negative and unforeseen consequences.”

“We are committed to providing law firms with the tools necessary to foster a positive workplace culture and exceed organizational goals. As such, we continue to see strong demand from law firms and recently onboarded one of the largest in the country,” added Sam Naficy, CEO at Prodoscore. “By analyzing the patterns and strategies of top employees, companies can identify the key elements that contribute to their success and develop targeted training programs and mentorship initiatives, as well as establish performance expectations that empower other employees to achieve similar levels of excellence. Prodoscore is revolutionizing the way companies of all sizes think about employee engagement, productivity and, ultimately, business value.”
