Surf Internet®, a leader in fiber-optic broadband, has connected more than 50,000 customers across Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. This achievement reflects Surf's ongoing dedication to bringing high-speed, reliable internet service to homes and businesses throughout the Great Lakes region.

Since its founding, Surf has worked to bridge the digital divide, focusing on delivering broadband to rural and underserved areas. As the company approaches its 25th anniversary in 2025, this 50,000-subscriber milestone reflects Surf's commitment to transforming lives and strengthening communities through technology.

“Reaching 50,000 customers is meaningful for us,” said Gene Crusie, CEO of Surf Internet. “We’re deeply grateful to the families, businesses, and organizations who have trusted us to deliver the reliable connectivity they depend on. As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to expanding access and delivering an exceptional experience for the communities we’re proud to serve.”

Surf’s fiber-optic network has grown steadily over the past five years, reaching more than 175,000 households. The company’s multi-gig service offerings are designed to meet the evolving needs of its customers with a scalable network architecture that can adapt as demand increases. Recent expansions include DeKalb County, Ind., Freeport, Ill., and South Haven, Mich., with plans for continued growth in 2025.

“Each mile of fiber we install represents more than just infrastructure—it’s an opportunity for families to learn, small businesses to thrive, and neighborhoods to grow,” said Kevin Bush, Chief Revenue Officer of Surf Internet. “By partnering with local leaders and leveraging grants, private equity, and strategic investments, we’re not just building a network; we’re creating a foundation for success in today’s digital world.”

Surf’s progress has been bolstered by securing over $57 million in grant funding from federal and state programs aimed at advancing rural broadband infrastructure. These funds, along with private equity investments from Bain Capital and Post Road Group and an expanded $200 million debt facility led by DigitalBridge Credit in December 2023, are fueling Surf’s continued growth as it extends high-speed internet to underserved areas across the region.
