“T-Mobile has been hard at work creating the best possible network experiences in the places our customer live, work and play, not only in New Orleans but across the entire state of Louisiana,” said Ulf Ewaldsson, President of Technology, T-Mobile. “The permanent upgrades we made to the city — on top of everything else we’ve done since launching 5G — are more than ready to support businesses and customers during the game and far beyond.”

Here's how T-Mobile is supporting the Big Game in early February with permanent upgrades and temporary capacity enhancements inside and around the Superdome:

  • Upgraded indoor distributed antenna systems (iDAS) bringing blazing-fast Ultra Capacity 5G to every corner of the stadium (if domes had corners), ensuring fans can share every touchdown and all the half-time show shenanigans in near real-time.
  • Upgrades across all macro cell sites in areas surrounding the event, bringing more incredible speeds (download speeds up to 920 Mbps!) in areas just outside the stadium — like Champions Square — so T-Mobile customers won’t miss a moment heading from tailgates to the main event.

Since sharing details on the Un-carrier’s $290 million dollar investment in network upgrades across the state, T-Mobile has more than prepped the Big Easy for the influx of visitors with permanent 5G upgrades at iconic sights citywide and everywhere in between:

  • 5G upgrades across the French Quarter, with peak download speeds of 975 Mbps and peak upload speeds of 68 Mbps. That’s fast enough to send near real-time beignet bragging rights to all your favorite group chats and social channels. Phone eats first!
  • Permanent upgrades to various hotels in the area including the Hyatt Regency, the JW Marriott and the Roosevelt.
  • 5G network upgrades in Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport ensuring travelers on T-Mobile’s network have access to the Un-carrier’s fastest speeds while making their way through the airport.
  • 5G upgrades at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and Smoothie King Arena.

T-Mobile is the leader in 5G, delivering America’s largest, fastest and most awarded 5G network. The Un-carrier’s 5G network covers more than 330 million people across 2 million square miles. More than 300 million people nationwide are covered by T-Mobile’s super-fast Ultra Capacity 5G with over 2x more square miles of coverage than similar mid-band 5G offerings from the Un-carrier’s closest competitors.
